"..to be a great writer- experience"

About Me

 A Short Biography

I live along the shore of the mighty Mississippi River south of St. Louis, Missouri with my husband, Rob, on a mini farm complete with dogs, chickens, rabbits, an occasional goat or calf, a goose named Lucky and several goslings. Having retired in 200l after working in the educational field both as teacher and administor for thirty-eight years plus years and with time to focus on my own goals, I have devoted myself to the love of writing and to the education of others in this field.

I knew I had the imagination and the ability to write but the craft of writing and the marketing of my work required a great deal of honing.  With this in mind, I applied for and accepted for an online writing course, "Breaking into Print", taught through The Long Ridge Writers Institute.  The class, sponsored through Massachusetts Clark State College, provided for college credits so I applied for the seven hours of creative writing credit as well.  In June of 2005, I completed the classes, received my certificate and my credit hours.  They now hang on my writing room wall along with a copy of my first check.

Please feel free to click on the links found throughout my credit listing for clips of my

work.  Travel on to the next paragraph and have some fun with me as we SHOUT IT OUT.  Tell

me your name and any writing comment you like to share.  You will find links through out the

site so you can pop back here anytime you wish and SHOUT IT OUT.

Do you know to whom the following refer?

1.   Holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in education along with more than fifty graduate hours in the liberal arts.

2.    Lives with her husband on a six-acre mini-farm located along the shores of the Mississippi River in a hundred year old home complete with a bunkhouse for the hired help in the ‘olden’ days.

3.    Provides a home for chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and rabbits, a couple of dogs and an occasional goat or calf.

4.   Drinks pots of coffee and quarts of tea when in a writing mood and sometimes when not in a writing mood.

5.    Writes best in the evening and into the wee hours of the morning.  Definitely is not a morning person.

6.  Started writing at the age of ten expressing thoughts and ideas not able to say aloud in a household that thought children were to be seen and not heard.  Fortunately, I tore up most of these after anger and/or resentment dissipated.

7.      Has discovered that retirement only means I get to work when I want or need to, not when someone else tells me I have to.  I still have to work.

8.      Wouldn’t trade my lot in life with anyone else unless hung upside down by my ankles and probably not ever then.

9.  When I’m not writing, I’m reading especially biographies of interesting people [not necessarily famous] mysteries and courtroom dramas among others.

You guessed right----It's me.  Thanks for playing.

Credits...

I have accomplished a great deal more since first setting up my website.  Not wanting to bore anyone with nothing more than a listing of my credits, I decided to do something a little more creative.  Throughout my site you will find credits listed on the pages where I have also placed a sample of work in that genre.  I hope that this will help you to enjoy your journey through my pages.

If you are an editor or individual in a hurry and only interested in my credits as a writer, I have set up a PAGE where you can read the list of credits, snap to a couple of clips and be on your way.  Thank you for stopping by, always glad to have visitors.  I can be reached at dcatherine@sbcglobal.net

For the rest of you, writing has become, a wonderful way to express my views, thoughts, opinions and share with each of you some of my writing.  Please come along for the ride

SHOUT IT OUT......

Here it is, your chance to share in the same thrill I had in setting my website up and seeing what I had written instantly appear on the Internet screen.  Consideration for others is requested.
